Val d'Isere and La Daille combine with Tignes to make up the vast Espace Killy ski area. Val d'Isere is an unparalleled high altitude ski area with an excellent snow record. Beginners don't need a lift pass to get started on some of the nursery slopes before enjoying some gentle well-groomed blues and greens. With miles of snow sure terrain, giant moguls, deep powder bowls and hair-raising couloirs, the resort is unrivalled in its reputation for intermediate and advanced skiing and boarding. The apres-ski is lively in Val d'Isere, with plenty of great bars offering a party atmosphere and live music most nights. La Foret and Dick's T Bar in Val, and the Brighton Rock at La Daille are not to be missed.

Maeva La Daille ***

A firm favourite, these comfortable and welcoming apartments have been entirely refurbished for 2007. The accommodation faces the mountain and enjoys splendid views over the valley and the traditional village of Val. Conveniently located at the entrance to the resort in the La Daille area, the funival funicular is just 200m from the complex. Regular shuttle buses operate between La Daille and Val d'Isere during the daytime and evening, with night buses running into the early hours.
